PROGRAM INFORMATION

The Academic & Career Entrance (ACE) Program is specifically designed for upgrading academic skills of adults and utilizes a combination of self-directed study and teacher contact and the length of the program varies based on individual student goals. Participation in the program can be on a full or part-time basis. ACE allows students to achieve the entrance requirements for apprenticeships and many post-secondary college programs in a relatively short period of time. A diagnostic Mathematics and English test will determine the academic level of entry into the program.

The curriculum consists of Communications, Computers, Self-Management/Self-Direction, and various Mathematics and Science courses. Course selection is based on the individual’s goals. Classroom hours can be scheduled around employment and family responsibilities. The program is delivered Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and evening classes may be available. This program is being offered throughout the provincial college system and is accepted as Grade 12 equivalency for most post-secondary programs at community Colleges across the province. Students may register in individual courses to fulfill requirements of most post-secondary programs.

Please Note: To receive an ACE Certificate, students must successfully complete Communications, Mathematics and two other courses from the course list. TEST
