
The Lambton College International Student Employment Training Center was established in 2010 to assist international students find part time, co-op, volunteer and post graduation employment opportunities. The center is financially supported by the Royal Bank of Canada through a generous donation.
The International Student Employment Training Center provides several services for our international students:
- Dan Helps, our employment consultant, helps to contact prospective employers in Sarnia and across Canada. His job is to convince prospective employers to interview and consider hiring our talented international students.
- Resume and Cover Letter Workshops – each semester assistance is provided to students to assist them refine and improve their resume and cover letters
- Job Postings – each week, new part time, seasonal, co-op and post graduation work opportunities are emailed to the relevant students and are posted online.
- Mock Interview Assistance – through various courses like JSS and Canadian Culture and You, students receive additional assistance in practicing their job interview skills
- Work Permit Workshops – each semester a workshop is provided to help students obtain their off campus work permit, co-op work permit and post graduation work permit.
Currently, international students have found part time and full time employment in the following sectors in Sarnia:
- Gas stations
- Convenience stores

On Campus Work Opportunities
Lambton College also provides (on campus) work opportunities for international students. When (on campus) work opportunities occur, international students are requested to submit a resume and cover letter to the international office. It is a competitive process where the top four candidates are selected for an interview and usually one student is finally selected for the position.

On Campus Employment Postings
To be eligible for an on campus job, international students must meet the following criteria:
- Registered in the first or second semester of their program
- Registered in an academic program that is greater than one year in length
- Good standing with the college
