Step 1: Applying to Partner Schools
All interested applicants must first submit the following documents to internationalteachers@lambtoncollege.ca:
- Letter of Application
- Resume
Once the college receives documents, they are forwarded to schools in China and reviewed. Select applicants will be asked to submit additional documents upon reviewing application letter and resume.
Step 2: Being a Selected Candidate
Applicants who have been chosen to move forward in the selection process will be contacted by Lambton College and will be required to submit the following documentation:
- Scan/Photocopy of relevant degrees, diplomas, certificates
- Valid Passport*
*Please note: passports should be valid for a minimum of 1.5 years from the estimated date of departure from the teacher’s country of origin.
Step 3: Process for Hired Teachers
Once an applicant provides the appropriate documentation for Step 2, he/she will be moved into the hiring process and will be required to obtain the necessary clearances to work in China. The process will go as follows:
- Applicant must submit additional forms including:
- Foreign Experts Working Permit Application Record
- Physical Examination Record
- Partner school in China will apply for*:
- An Invitation Letter
- A Chinese Government Working Permit
*Canadian Teachers – the invitation letter and working permit will be couriered to the applicable travel agency in Canada. This will occur approximately 3 – 4 weeks before contract start date. The Canadian teacher will then be asked to forward the following to Lambton College or directly to the contracted travel agency:
- his/her original passport
- completed visa application
- visa photo
A representative from the travel agency will take these documents to the Chinese Consulate to obtain a working visa (Z Visa) for newly hired teacher. The original passport will be couriered back to the teacher with the Z Visa included. Travel arrangements can be made with the travel agency once a Z Visa is obtained.
Teachers Located Outside Canada – are required to obtain their own visas.
Teachers Located Outside North America – are required to obtain their own visas and to make their own travel arrangements and will be reimbursed for approved travel and visa costs upon arrival in China and with the presentation of appropriate receipts.
